MORE 2010 VACATION TIME

BEACH TRAVEL THIS YEAR
WAS WITH SOME APPREHENSION
DUE TO THE OIL IN THE GULF.
WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.
WE WERE VERY PLEASANTLY
SURPRISED AT THE LACK OF ANY
OIL ON THE BEACHES.

ALMOST THERE!

ON A TRAVEL BREAK

LEMMONDROP HOUSE
WAS OUR LODGING
THIS YEAR. POOL AND
FACILITIES WERE NICE

THE LOCAL OFFICIALS TOOK MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS AND BUILT A 5 FOOT DAM BETWEEN THE OCEAN AND THE EASTERN LAKE TO PREVENT ANY OIL FROM GETTING TO THE LAKE. THEY DIDNT WAIT ON THE FEDS TO APPROVE THEIR PLANS.

A SECOND POND WAS
CREATED WITH A BOOM
TO CATCH ANY OIL WHICH
CAME FROM THE FIRST POND

THE LAKE EDGE WAS
DOUBLE BOOMED TO
CATCH ANY OIL THAT
MADE IT TO THE LAKE

BP WORKERS CONSTANTLY
WALK THE BEACH, BUT
RARELY FIND ANY OIL

Savannah's riverfront consists of converted old warehouses for retail shops and dining. Sherman did not burn Savannah during the Civil War due to town fathers inviting him to
stay in Savannah when his advance was 10 miles out of town.

Two large River boats cruise the area during the day and evening. Dinner and Entertainment are available.

A relatively new suspension bridge separates old Savannah and the eastern part of South Carolina.

Paula Deen's
brother has the
Uncle Bubba's
resturant out in
the marshes.
Food was excellent!

A visit to
Hilton Head
found a beautiful
island with great
facilities.
